CHILD SEX PORN CREEP PLEADS GUILTY IN FEDERAL COURT: DUSTIN EDWARD NEWSOME, 37, OF DEBORD, KENTUCKY; FACES A MAXIMUM SENTENCE THAT COULD LEAD TO SERVING TIME IN FEDERAL PRISON OF ALL THE WAY UP TO THE YEAR 2074.
Dustin Edward Newsome, 35, of Debord, KY., pleaded guilty Monday to one count of coercing minors to engage in sexually explicit conduct for child porn, and one count of possessing child porn.
The case came to investigators’ attention in August 2023, when a parent of one of the victim’s reported finding THC vape cartridges in her son’s room. When the son was questioned by the parent, he admitted to obtaining the cartridges, alcohol, a cell phone and other items of value from a mail carrier, later identified as Dustin Newsome, in exchange for sending him explicit pictures and videos.
As the investigation in the case progressed, Kentucky State Police learned that a total of nine boys ranging in age from 12 to 16 were providing Dustin Newsome with pictures and videos in exchange for THC vapes, alcohol, money and video game currency.
When the KSP raided Dustin Newsome’s home, they found recordings of at least four of the boys, as well as hundreds of child porn pictures and videos.
Dustin Edward Newsome now faces up to 30 years for the coercion charge, & up to 20 years for the child porn charge when he is sentenced in January 2025; for a potential maximum of 50 years, of being in federal prison until the year 2074, when he is 85-86 years old. However, sentencing guidelines most likely he will be given a shorter prison sentence, as well also even serving less if he is paroled from prison for good behavior; but nearly all the federal prison sentences ordered by federal judges will mean Dustin Newsome will have to serve 85 percent of his prison term.
Dustin Newsome could also be ordered to pay up to $67,000 in fines, as well as restitution of at least $3,000 to each of the nine victims, for a beginning minimum total of $27,000.
Dustin Newsome was taken into custody by U.S. Marshals on the late afternoon on Monday,September 9,and upon that he was transported to and lodged in the Clark County Detention Center in Winchester, KY., where Dustin Newsome awaits for the scheduled sentencing date of his final prison term he will be ordered to serve.
