Kentucky State Police Troopers Rescue Domestic Violence Victims

Following 911 Call from Juvenile

LONDON, KY (July 11, 2025) – On July 9, 2025, at approximately 1:09 PM, troopers from Kentucky State Police Post 11 in London successfully rescued victims of a domestic violence situation in Laurel County. The incident began when a juvenile used a 911-only phone to report the situation, with the call initially received by Laurel County 911 and then transferred to Kentucky State Police.

Upon arriving at the residence on TIB Drive, troopers were unable to make contact and proceeded to make forcible entry. Inside, they located Brandon L. Lunsford 36 of Corbin. Lunsford was holding his spouse and juvenile children against their will in an attempt to avoid apprehension. The troopers acted quickly to secure the victims’ safety and took the suspect into custody without further incident.

Lunsford was charged with:

1 count – Assault 4th Domestic Violence Minor Injury

3 counts – Unlawful Imprisonment 2nd

1 count – Strangulation 1st Domestic Violence Related

Trooper J. Riley is continuing the investigation he was assisted by KSP personnel.
