December 15, 2022 – Louisa Police Department & the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office arrested 4 people during execution of a search warrant.
Based on an ongoing investigation initiated by Ptl. Teddy Newsome of the Louisa Police Department with the assistance of Lawrence County Deputy Joe Osbourne a search of a residence on Noah’s Landing in Louisa resulted in the arrest of four suspects. Included in the arrests are:
- Hansel Wiley, 52, of Louisa charging him with Possession of a Controlled Substance 1st offense (Meth) and Drug Paraphernalia,
- Samantha Johnson, 31, of Louisa, Possession of a Controlled Substance 1st offense (Meth) and Drug Paraphernalia,
- Cory Ferrell, 26, of Sumerco, WV, Theft of Identity of Another without Consent, Mr. Ferrell also had a Martin County warrant for Possession of Methamphetamine, also arrested was
- Joseph Adkins, 29, of Fort Gay for Giving Officer False Information and a Lawrence County bench warrant.
All subjects were lodged into the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center. Case remains under investigation by the officers with more subjects and charges pending Grand Jury presentation.

Trying to understand why one subject was charged theft of identity and other one just charged with giving false information when they both had warrants and trying to hide from them. Odd!
One likely had the ID of another person and the other just told them a false name.
