Ashland, Ky — Lawrence Co. Middle school ( 14-1 ) won the OVC Girls Soccer Tournament with a 2-1 Victory over Ashland Saturday afternoon. The two teams split in the regular season.
The game was scoreless at the half as both teams were fighting for a championship.
Emersyn Elliott scored on a pass from Alyssa Howard to make it 1-0 Lawrence Co. 10 minutes into the second half. Less than 5 minutes later Casey Hovis was driving inside the box when she was fouled setting up Brylee Blair’s penalty kick to put LCMS up 2-0. Ashland scored with less than 7 minutes remaining to cut the lead in half but the Lady Bulldogs were able to hang on for the 2-1 win.
2019 OVC Soccer Champions
Friday night in the semifinal game against East Carter the two teams were tied 0-0 after regulation which forced the game to Penalty Kicks.
Lawrence Co. won 3-2 on PK’s and advanced to the Championship game.
