PAINTSVILLE, Ky. — 2025 begins with the mysterious arrest of a Louisa businessman and popular figure in the community. The story is capturing a lot of interest on social media today after he was charged with shoplifting at an unnamed store here.
Ken Akers, 48, owner of two bait shop locations including one in downtown Louisa, was arrested by Paintsville police and booked at just after 5:00 pm on Theft By Unlawful Taking (no amount given) charges. The arrest report also does not give a location of the arrest in the case which Akers is withholding comment.
When a Lazer reporter contacted Akers today he said, “Nah, I’m good.”
He posted this comment yesterday on FB:
“I will not go into details but ‘yes’ I was arrested today. I will {not} discuss this further until after Jan 22 when I go to court. This is the 1st time I have ever been arrested or in any trouble for anything. But I do appreciate all the calls, messages and texts. I will be at the Hagerhill shop tomorrow if anyone would like to come discuss it feel free to come see me.”

Hmm interesting. Shoplifting is stealing.. The store had to see him do something or they wouldn’t have arrested him. Just always tell the truth.
