COUNCIL MEMBERS SWORN IN AT THE LOUISA CITY COUNCIL MEETING

The Louisa City Council met on Tuesday December 11, 2025 at Louisa City Hall, 215 N Main Cross Street, Louisa, Kentucky 41230 at 6PM. City of Louisa Mayor Harold Slone was in attendance along with Louisa City Council Members Gary Robertson, Caleb Farley, Rose Lester, Coty Roe and Keith Chaffin. Joey McClanahan was absent.
SWEAR IN NEW COUNCIL MEMBERS
The Louisa City Council Members were sworn in by Louisa City Attorney Eldred E. Bud Adams. All those elected will now be City Council members including Joey McClanahan, Kala Brown, Caleb Farley, Rose Lester, Coty Roe and Keith Chaffin, for two years.

LOUISA CITY WATER PLANT
Mayor Slone announced that as of December 2, 2024 the Louisa Water Plant has now been paid off. That will free up $200,000. The Plant was built 20+ years ago. Recently, the computers have been updated so if you want to tour the Water Plant they are giving free tours.

Motion to approve the November 12, 2024 Minutes by Gary Robertson seconded by Caleb Farley. None Opposed.
APPROVE BUDGET REPORT
Motion to approve the November Budget Report by Caleb Farley seconded by Keith Chaffin. None Opposed.
SECOND READING CANNABIS ORDINANCE
This Ordinance will allow the city and county to regulate medical cannabis. Motion by Gary Robertson seconded by Keith Chaffin. None Opposed.
CODE ENFORCEMENT
The Code Enforcement Board had a person resign from the Board. Teddy Newsome s suggestion of Corey Vanhoose who was an alternate. Newsome and Vanhoose will now be members of the Code Enforcement and will choose an alternate at the next meeting on Wednesday December 11, 2024. Motion by Caleb Farley seconded by Gary Robertson. None Opposed.
AUTHORIZATION FOR BIDS
The Louisa Fire Department applied for and received a grant from the Kentucky Fire Commission for building a training classroom facility. There is already a fire tower to use. This classroom will be connected to the fire tower. Slone said, “We are ready for construction in the next couple weeks.” Motion by Gary Robertson 2nd by Keith Chaffin. None Opposed.
Local dentist Dr. Mark Lester came to the meeting last night ready to entertain with his sense of humor and wistful manner. To call him eccentric may be a stretch — but close. He was interested in the council to widen the right of way at the Gingerbread House. Free show!
