The Kentucky State Police has endured a very strainful short period over the past Friday to Sunday timeframe, as they had to respond to a half a dozen vehicle accidents, half of them occurring in the eight (8) county KSP Post 3 patrol region, that has left multiple deaths and multiple people injuries, most of whom were serious. Here are the the following six latest accidents currently being investigated by the Kentucky State Police
KENTUCKY STATE POLICE INVESTIGATES FATAL COLLISION IN MEADE COUNTY

The Kentucky State Police are investigating a single-vehicle collision in Meade County during the second half of the weekend that resulted in a fatality.
On Sunday ,October 20, at approximately 11:24 A.M. Eastern Daylight Time, Kentucky State Police Post 4 in Elizabethtown in Hardin County, received a call from the Meade County Sheriff Office requesting that KSP Post 4 investigate a single-vehicle collision near the 4,500 block of Garrett Road in the Ekron community of Meade County.
The preliminary investigation revealed that Dustin C. Gray, 30, of Bardstown, KY.,was operating a 2009 Harley Davidson motorcycle eastbound on Garrett Road when, for unknown reasons, he lost control and left the roadway, striking a utility pole.
Dustin Gray was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Meade County Coroner Office.
The affected portion of Garrett Road was closed for several hours to allow troopers to reconstruct the collision. KSP Post 4 was assisted at the scene by the Meade County EMS, Ekron Volunteer Fire Department, and the Meade County Coroner Office. The collision remains under investigation by Trooper Kyle Nichols.

KENTUCKY STATE POLICE POST 3 INVESTIGATES FATAL COLLISION IN BARREN COUNTY
Kentucky State Police are investigating an wreck accident that claimed the life of an elderly man, driving, injured his elderly wife, another man who was the other driver, during the second half of the weekend
On Sunday, October 20, 2024, at 10:30 A.M., Kentucky State Police (KSP) Post 3 in Campbellsburg in Henry County, responded to the 7,000 block of Scottsville Road in Barren County in reference to a fatal motor vehicle collision.
The preliminary investigation indicated that a white 2000 GMC Sierra operated by Charles Vittitoe, 47, of Scottsville, KY., was northbound on Scottsville Road. Charles Vittitoe swerved to avoid hitting a deer in the roadway causing his vehicle to cross the center line into the path of a black 2009 GMC Sierra operated by Danny Webb, 76, of Cave City, KY., which was southbound on Scottsville Road. The 2 vehicles then collided.
Danny Webb was pronounced deceased by the Barren County Coroner’s Office. Charles Vittitoe was transported to TJ Samson Hospital in Glasgow where he was later transferred to Skyline Medical Center for serious injuries. Sharon Webb, 71, of Cave City, KY., who was a passenger in the black 2009 GMC Sierra, was transported by Barren-Metcalfe EMS to TJ Samson Hospital for unknown injuries.
KSP Post 3 was assisted on scene by the Barren County Sheriff’s Office, Barren-Metcalfe EMS, and multiple Barren County Fire Departments. This investigation is ongoing by KSP Post 3 and is being led by Detective Bo Hubbard.

KENTUCKY STATE POLICE INVESTIGATES FATAL COLLISION ON GREENSBURG ROAD IN ADAIR COUNTY

Kentucky State Police are investigating a wreck accident that claimed the life of a male pedestrian, and injured two drivers, an elderly woman and a man over weekend.
On Saturday, October 19, 2024 at approximately 7:30 P.M. Central Standard Time, Kentucky State Police (KSP) Post 15 in Columbia in Adair County, troopers responded to a two-vehicle injury collision on Greensburg Road in Adair County.
The preliminary investigation revealed a 1995 Chevrolet 1500 pickup was parked in the northbound lane of Greensburg Road facing south operated by Samuel Derossett, 36 of Columbia., KY. A pedestrian, Chad Pegg, 54, of Greensburg, KY.,was standing near the front of the Chevrolet pickup. A 2010 Ford Edge, operated by Norma Shirley, 74, of Columbia, KY., was traveling north on Greensburg Road when she collided with the Chevrolet pickup and Chad Pegg.
Chad Pegg was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Adair County Coroner. Samuel Derossett was transported to the University of Kentucky Hospital with serious injuries. Norma Shirley was also transported to the University of Louisville Hospital with serious injuries.
KSP Post 15 Troopers were assisted at the scene by the Adair County Sheriff’s Office, Adair County Fire and EMS, and Adair County Rescue Squad. The collision remains under investigation by Senior Trooper Dean Lunz.

KENTUCKY STATE POLICE POST 3 INVESTIGATES FATAL VEHICLE COLLISION IN WARREN COUNTY
On Friday, October 18, 2024, at 4:25 P.M., Kentucky State Police (KSP) Post 3 in Campbellsburg in Henry County, responded to the area of the 41-mile marker of Interstate 65 on the northbound side in Warren County in reference to a fatal motor vehicle collision.
Preliminary investigation indicates that a gold 2007 Nissan Titan operated by a 17-year-old juvenile was northbound on Interstate 65 when, for unknown reasons, the vehicle left the right side of the roadway before hitting a tree line. The juvenile driver was transported by Med-Com EMS to the Medical Center of Bowling Green where he was treated for minor injuries and later released.
A female passenger, Gracie Helen Scott (19) of Franklin, KY., was airlifted from the scene to Skyline Medical Center in Nashville where she was later pronounced deceased by authorities in Tennessee.
KSP Post 3 was assisted on scene by Smiths Grove Police, Bowling Green Fire Department, Smiths Grove Fire Department, Med-Com EMS, and Air-Methods. This investigation is ongoing by KSP and is being led by Trooper Landon Key.

KENTUCKY STATE POLICE INVESTIGATES FATAL COLLISION INVOLVING OWEN COUNTY DEPUTY
Kentucky State Police are investigating an wreck accident that claimed the life of an elderly woman and injured a deputy at end of the last week
The Kentucky State Police Critical Incident Response Team (CIRT) was requested by KSP Post 5 in Campbellsburg in Henry County, to investigate a two-vehicle collision that occurred on Friday afternoon on US 127 North near KY 36 (New Liberty Turnpike), in Owen County, involving an Owen County Sheriff’s Office (OCSO) Deputy.
The preliminary investigation indicates an OCSO Chevrolet Tahoe police vehicle, operated by Deputy Frank Blackwell, 31, of Glencoe, KK., was traveling north on US 127 with emergency lights and sirens activated, responding to an overdose complaint. A 2014 Subaru Forester, operated by Kathleen Fresard, 71, of Willisburg, KY., was traveling north on US 127 ahead of several other vehicles, and ahead of deputy Blackwell. As deputy Blackwell attempted to pass the slower traffic, Kathleen Fresard made a left turn in the path of deputy Blackwell’s vehicle, resulting in the collision.
Kathleen Fresard sustained life-threatening injuries and was transported from the scene by ambulance to a helicopter landing zone, where she succumbed to her injuries. Deputy Blackwell was transported to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries and has since been released. Deputy Frank Backwell is a 5-year veteran of the Owen County Sheriff’s Office .
Kentucky State Police Post 11 was assisted at the scene by Owen County Rescue Squad, Owen County Sheriff’s Office, New Liberty Fire Department, Owen County Coroner’s Office and Owenton Police Department. The investigation remains ongoing.

KENTUCKY STATE POLICE INVESTIGATING FATAL COLLISION IN LAUREL COUNTY
EZEKIEL RUSSELL, 3 YEARS OLD, DIED FROM HIS INJURIES HE SUFFERED TWO DAYS AFTER TWO VEHICLE COLLISION ACCIDENT AT AN INTERSECTION IN LAUREL COUNTY, KY.
Kentucky State Police are investigating a mid-morning vehicle accident that claimed the life of a young toddler in Laurel County at end of the last week
On Friday, October 18, 2024, at approximately 07:50 A.M., the Kentucky State Police Post 11 in London in Laurel County, was notified of a two-vehicle collision injury accident at the intersection of KY. 192 and Boggs Road in Laurel County. The collision resulted in one juvenile fatality.
The preliminary investigation indicates that a tan 2010 Chevrolet Tahoe, operated by Christopher E. Russell, 29, of London, KY., failed to yield the right of way and struck a 2006 white Volvo Dump Truck operated by Merle V. Gumm, 55, of Corbin, KY. Both vehicles traveled down the roadway before coming to a concrete bridge railing and both vehicles fell into a small creek coming to final rest.
Christopher Russell and a juvenile passenger were entrapped inside their vehicle, but they were extricated and flown by Air Evac and PHI to the University of Kentucky Hospital with severe injuries. On October 20, 2024, the juvenile passenger, who was identified as Ezekiel Russell, who was just 3 years old, succumbed from his injuries at Kentucky Children’s Hospital. and he was pronounced deceased by the Fayette County Coroner Gary Ginn.
The ongoing investigation is being conducted by KSP Post 11 Trooper Logon Mallory. Trooper Mallory was assisted at the scene by Post 11 personnel, Kentucky State Police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement, Laurel County Fire Department, Laurel County EMS, Air Evac, PHI Evac and the Fayette County Coroner’s Office.
