Health Action Team Announces New Website
The Lawrence County Health Action Team (HAT) celebrates its 15-year anniversary this September. The
coalition was established in September of 2009 to address health issues facing county residents and
included members from Three Rivers Medical Center, Lawrence County Board of Education, Lawrence
County Cooperative Extension Services, Lawrence County Health Department, Pathways, Kentucky
Homeplace, and others. HAT now includes more than 50 community partners who share the same vision –
working together to serve our community by creating optimal conditions for health for everyone. We do
this through collaboration, communication, whole person health, service, and family. Some of HAT’s
successes have been the Healthy Living with Diabetes Support Group, Smile Savers Public Health Dental
Hygiene Program, and 100% Tobacco Free School Policy.
In 2023, HAT members completed a Community Health Improvement Plan. Through this work we have
prioritized strategic health issues and developed measurable goals and objectives. HAT’s most recent
success is a new website, an objective under the communication goal. “We invite you to visit
www.lawrencekyhealthactionteam.com where you can view all our goals and objectives as well as locate
health-related data and resources,” said Ashley Wilks, RN, HAT Coordinator. Future website updates will
include a community calendar of events and more stories from your family, friends, and neighbors.
The Health Action Team thanks The Center for Rural Development for providing funding for this project
through an Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) mini grant. We also thank Adam VanKirk and Right Eye
Graphics, LLC for the design and implementation of the website. Adam understood our vision and delivered
a great product.
