A Martin County Grand Jury returned the following criminal indictments on June 6, 2024.
Commonwealth of Kentucky vs. Daryl Damron
The Grand Jury charges: That on or before May 10, 2024 in Martin County, Kentucky, and before the finding of the indictment herein, the above-named defendant:
1. Daryl Damron committed the offense of Theft by Unlawful Taking over $1,000 by knowingly and unlawfully taking a wallet belonging to Mr. Elmer Hammond of Louisa, KY, containing approximately $2,000 in cash monies and various credit and bank cards, from Horn’s BP of Martin County, Kentucky.
Commonwealth of Kentucky vs. James Hackney
The Grand Jury charges: That on or before March 22, 2024 in Martin County, Kentucky, and before the finding of the indictment herein, the above-named defendant:
1. James Hackney acting alone or in complicity with Garland Mills committed the offense of Burglary in the 2nd Degree by knowingly and unlawfully entering the dwelling house of William Small, located at 565 Buck Branch Lovely, KY, with the intent therein to commit the crime of theft.
Commonwealth of Kentucky vs. Elizabeth Horn
The Grand Jury charges: That on or before March 26, 2024 in Martin County, Kentucky, and before the finding of the indictment herein, the above-named defendant:
1. Elizabeth Horn committed the offense of Receiving Stolen Property under $10,000 by knowingly and unlawfully being in possession of a 2017 Le Paul Guitar valued at $3,000 and a Crown guitar valued at $500.00, stolen from William Small of Lovely, KY.
2. Elizabeth Horn committed the offense of Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 1st Degree by knowingly and unlawfully being in possession of Fentanyl.
Commonwealth of Kentucky vs. Garland Mills
The Grand Jury charges: That on or before March 22 2024 in Martin County, Kentucky, and before the finding of the indictment herein, the above-named defendant:
1. Garland Mills acting alone or in complicity with James Hackney committed the offense of Burglary in the 2nd Degree by knowingly and unlawfully entering the dwelling house of William Small, located at 565 Buck Branch Lovely, KY, with the intent therein to commit the crime of theft.
2. The above-named Defendant committed the offense of Criminal Mischief 3rd Degree by knowingly and unlawfully defacing, destroying, or damaging property, namely the door and threshold to the dwelling house of William Small of Lovely, KY.
Commonwealth of Kentucky vs. James McCoy
The Grand Jury charges: That on or before January 11, 2024 in Martin County, Kentucky, and before the finding of the indictment herein, the above-named defendant:
1. James McCoy committed the offense of Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 1st degree by knowingly and unlawfully being in possession of a controlled substance, Methamphetamine.
2. The above-named defendant committed the offense of Operating Motor Vehicle Under the Influence of Alcohol or Drugs by knowingly and unlawfully operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs which impaired his ability to operate said motor vehicle.
3. The above-named defendant committed the violation of No Registration Plates when he knowingly and unlawfully operated a motor vehicle without a registration plate for that vehicle as defined and required in KRS: 186. 170.
4. The above-named defendant committed the offense of Failure of Owner to Maintain Required Insurance 1st by knowingly and unlawfully operating a motor vehicle on a Kentucky roadway without proper securities insurance as defined in KRS: 304. 39-080.
Commonwealth of Kentucky vs. Chad Nichols
The Grand Jury charges: That on or before March 25, 2024 in Martin County, Kentucky, and before the finding of the indictment herein, the above-named defendant:
1. Chad Nichols committed the offense of Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 1st degree by knowingly and unlawfully being in possession of a controlled substance, Methamphetamine.
2. The above-named defendant committed the offense of Operating Motor Vehicle Under the Influence of Alcohol or Drugs by knowingly and unlawfully operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs which impaired his ability to operate said motor vehicle.
3. The above-named defendant committed the violation of No Registration Plates when he knowingly and unlawfully operated a motor vehicle without a registration plate for that vehicle as defined and required in KRS: 186. 170.
4. The above-named defendant committed the offense of Failure of Owner to Maintain Required Insurance 1st by knowingly and unlawfully operating a motor vehicle on a Kentucky roadway without proper securities insurance as defined in KRS: 304. 39-080.
Commonwealth of Kentucky vs. Scottie Thompson
The Grand Jury charges: That on or before April 25, 2024 in Martin County, Kentucky, and before the finding of the indictment herein, the above-named defendant:
1. Scottie Thompson committed the offense of Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 1st Degree by knowingly and unlawfully being in possession of Methamphetamine.
2. The above-named defendant committed the offense of Possession/Use Drug Paraphernalia by knowingly and unlawfully being in possession of a syringe.
