COACH’S COMMENTS
“… First of all when you come to this town twice in one week and come away 2-0 I don’t care what they got and don’t care what we got it still means something to them and does us as well. We have nothing but respect for both programs and I feel like they feel the same way about us. Proud of our guys for competing and getting wins on both nights.”
“… Monday night we had huge moments throughout the game even though we made a few mistakes like we did tonight but Ford and Talan out of the pen were stellar and pitch in big spots throughout. Braxton didn’t have his best stuff but he battled. Against Johnson Central Boedy Maynard was a stud. And that’s what we got to have the rest of the way. Logan came in against JC and did what he has done all year long and that’s throw strikes. Logan has had some good moments for us offensively and that was a huge hit in the seventh inning to give us the lead. And I was tickled to death for him. He wears the weight of the world on his shoulders sometimes, he is a young kid who was injured his freshman and sophomore year so this is like his first year and man that guy can hit and man that was a big one to get. Brady Caudill off the bench followed it up to give us an insurance run which was huge. Both hits came with two strikes which is what we have talked about all year long. Every coach in America talks about a two strike approach and it was great to see two kids make an adjustment and come through for us.”
“… We are banged up but have been since the first inning of the first game. I’ve never seen anything like it but it’s part of sports and it’s next man up. Abner was out and Ford Scaggs did a great job patrolling centerfield like he had played out there all year long. Which is a testament to the work that he has put in just like all of our guys.”
“… We are playing well and I don’t mind the time off. We got graduation coming up and it isn’t all about baseball. And that a huge moment for six young men on our team and I’m really proud we will be there to support them. But we will also be working our tails off between here and Monday preparing to get back what we think belongs in Louisa and that is a District title.”
“… I just told our guys last year we got complacent, spoiled and took for granted a District title. Those other schools are not afraid of us nor should they be. They are not going to roll over for us. Floyd Central played us tough twice last year and Prestonsburg beat us once last year same as they did this year. I will tell you this we will be prepared but they have good enough arms to beat us. And I promise I’m not taking Betsy Layne lightly either. They are not going to roll out the red carpet for us.”
“… First time we have hosted the District tourney since 2019 when we got on a roll and steamrolled to a Region championship. And we are excited to showcase our facilities and put on a good tournament for all of the teams in our District.”
