MARTIN COUNTY, KENTUCKY MAN ARRESTED AT LOUISA HOSPITAL FOR CHILD ABUSE AFTER REPORTEDLY BEATING HIS GIRLFRIEND’S YOUNG DAUGHTER

A Martin County, Kentucky man was arrested late last week in Lawrence County on a child abuse charge, after police say he allegedly hit his girlfriend’s young daughter.
According to the arrest report by the Kentucky State Police Post 14 in Ashland, on early Friday morning, April 19, they dispatched a state trooper after receiving a call from Three Rivers Medical Center in Louisa to speak for an interview with a young girl about an incident that occurred on Staton Hollow Road in Tomahawk in Martin County.
When the child began to speak to the responding officer, KSP trooper Logan Layne, she told trooper Layne that Kevin Michael Litton, 35, of Tomahawk, KY., began arguing with her because she took one of his soda pop drinks. The girl told trooper Layne that Kevin Litton when he told her to “Come here, I have a surprise for you,” When she did, she told trooper Layne he held her down on the ground and began hitting her in the face with an open hand.
According to the state police report, nurses at the hospital all stated that the child’s injuries were consistent with physical abuse.
When trooper Layne spoke to Kevin Litton, he said that he had the girl pinned while they were “playing WWE,” when he accidentally hit her in the face.
Kevin Michael Litton was arrested by trooper Logan Layne, and he was charged with
- CRIMINAL ABUSE 1ST DEGREE-CHILD 12 OR UNDER; which is a Class B felony, because of the girl’s age, he faces a potential sentence of ten (10) to twenty (20) years in prison if convicted.
Kevin Litton was transported to the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center in Paintsville, KY., in Johnson County, and was booked at 4:47 A.M., Friday morning. Kevin Litton posted his bond shortly thereafter, and he was then released later on Friday at 1:22 P.M.
