IN A WORLD OF MAJOR TROUBLE: MATTHEW LOUIS SAVAGE, 51, OF LOUISA, KY., WAS ARRESTED ON SUNDAY MORNING, MARCH 24, AFTER AN INCIDENT THAT BEGAN LATE SATURDAY NIGHT, MARCH 23, WHEN HE STABBED ANOTHER MAN WHO WAS TRYING TO PROTECT A MALE JUVENILE IN A SITUATION THAT CAME ABOUT INVOLVING A VERBAL ‘MOM JOKE’.
A Lawrence County, Kentucky man is facing a pair of felony charges, after one person was stabbed in an argument over a “mom” joke.
Police were called to a report of a stabbing, but officers soon learned that the victim had been taken to Three Rivers Medical Center in Louisa.
At the hospital, police interviewed the victim and a witness, who said the altercation began late Saturday night just before midnight at a home on Wallace Street in Louisa. The police report does not indicate who told the “mom” joke, but the victim told police that Matthew Louis Savage, 51, of Louisa, went after a male juvenile while Matthew Savage’s wife held her husband back by his collar.
Once outside, the police report alleges that Matthew Savage followed the juvenile, brandishing a pocket knife, and saying he was going to cut the youth from “ear to ear” and calling him a racial slur. The victim told police he was stabbed while attempting to keep Matthew Savage from getting to the boy.
When police went to the home where the incident occurred, they found blood on the sidewalk, bloody footprints leading to the home, and more blood on the porch, which appeared that someone had tried to wash away.
Matthew Louis Savage was arrested by patrolwoman officer Slhelby Taylor of the Louisa Police Department, and he was charged with *ASSAULT, 1ST DEGREE; and *WANTON ENDANGERMENT-1ST DEGREE . The first degree assault charge is the most serious one, a Class B felony, carrying a potential penalty of 10 to 20 years in prison.
Matthew Savage is currently being held in the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center in Paintsville, KY., on a $10,025 cash bond only.
