Sheriff Rick Thompson stated that two drug suspects were arrested late last night during a traffic stop.
Sheriff Thompson stated that the Wayne County Sheriff Drug Enforcement Unit stopped a Uber driver who was traveling from Huntington to Ashland for multiple violations. Criminal indicators were detected while talking with the driver and passenger.
The passenger, Charles ‘Chuck’ Royer, of Huntington, was asked to step out of the vehicle and detained.
The driver, Jay Wolfe, of Chesapeake, began reaching around in the vehicle and ignored commands to stop moving. Jay was ordered to get out of the vehicle. While having Jay get out of the vehicle, Charles dropped a metal box from his clothing and was trying to kick it under the guard rail. The box contained several baggies of Fentanyl, Methamphetamine, and Marijuana. More Methamphetamine and Fentanyl along with Mushrooms (Psilocybin) were recovered from Charles’ pockets. Two digital scales, Methamphetamine, and Marijuana were also seized from the vehicle.
During the investigation the Wayne County Sheriff Drug Enforcement Unit was able to determine that Jay and Charles were working together to distribute the controlled substances.
The Kenova Police Department assisted the Wayne County Sheriff Drug Enforcement Unit on the stop. Sheriff Thompson appreciates and commends the interagency coordination and assistance by the Kenova Police Department.
Charles is charged with Conspiracy to Distribute 5 to 50 grams of Methamphetamine, Conspiracy to Distribute Fentanyl, Conspiracy to Distribute Mushrooms (Psilocybin), Possession with Intent to Deliver Methamphetamine, Possession with Intent to Deliver Fentanyl, Possession with Intent to Deliver Mushrooms.
Jay is charged with Conspiracy to Distribute 5 to 50 grams of Methamphetamine, Conspiracy to Distribute Fentanyl, Conspiracy to Distribute Mushrooms (Psilocybin).
