2017 FARM AND HOME FIELD DAY JUNE 23, 2017
The Lawrence Co. Extension Office hosted its 2017 Farm and Home Field Day on Thursday, June 23, 2017. The bad weather kept some at home but over 160 attendees were present for Thursday’s event and the folks that came out certainly enjoyed it.
A host of vendors were there to educate and demonstrate their expertise. The Master Gardeners did a rain barrel demonstration.
* The Ky Dept. of Agriculture had a tractor rollover experience showing the importance of roll bars and wearing seat belts.
* Wellmans Hardware did a cooking expo using similar grills sold in the store.
* A deer-proof fence was set up to show how to keep deer out of your vegetable garden.
* Bouncy houses and a petting zoo exhibited by the Lawrence Co. Future Farmers of America provided fun for the children.
A delicious BBQ dinner complete with all the fixings was provided by the Lawrence Co. Farm Bureau and door prizes were handed out at the end of the evening’s event.
Sponsors for the event include Three Rivers Medical Center, Savage Farms, Lawrence Co. Health Department, Lawrence Co. Soil Conservation, Lawrence Co. Farm Bureau, UK Homeplace Clinic, Farm Service Agency, Farmhouse Repurposed, Wellmans Hardware, Lawrence Co. Nutrition Assistants, Lawrence Co. Homemakers and Lawrence Co. Master Gardeners.
Laura Maggard shared her thoughts by saying, “The Lawrence Co. Extension Office Staff would like to thank all the volunteers and leaders who helped make Field Day happen and to the participants who came out despite the weather.
We look forward to Farm and Home Field Day next year!”
