Today 1-16-2024 at approximately 1330 I was notified by personnel with Eagle Sawyers Fire Dept. that a civilian Jason Beavers had Contacted McCreary County 911 reporting that he could hear a male yelling for help near Eagle Falls.

***UPDATE***PREVIOUS STORY:Kentucky State Police at the request of Kentucky State Park Ranger Division issues Golden Alert D for Whitley County Man

Ranger Bishop along with Sgt. Barnett, and Col. Crockett responded to the staging area at 6-gun city an old western theme down park. Is where Eagle Sawyers deployed their search and rescue team, after speaking with the Chief it was determined that the quickest route for evacuation would be by boat across the river. Whitley County Emergency Management Director Jerry Rains contacted Search and Rescue and had a boat and team sent to the beach at Cumberland Falls.

Swift water rescue deployed and brought the person across the river where I was able to confirm it to be Walter Dale a subject that I had entered missing.

Dale was transported by Whitley County EMS to the Whitley County Airport where PHI air medical was waiting to transport him to the University of Tennessee medical center.

Agencies that assisted in the rescue efforts.

Corbin Fire, Woodbine Search and Rescue, Whitley County Emergency Management, Whitley County Police Dept., Kentucky State Police, Eagle Sawyer Fire Dept., Williamsburg Police Dept., McCreary County EMS, Whitley County EMS, McCreary County Emergency Management.

Kentucky State Police at the request of Kentucky State Park Ranger Division issues Golden Alert D for Whitley County Man

Cumberland Falls State Resort Park, (January 15, 2024) – Post 11 London is assisting Kentucky State Park Ranger Division, who are actively working a missing person investigation at the Cumberland Falls State Park Resort located in Whitley and McCreary Counties.

A Golden Alert D has been issued for Walter Dewayne Dale, 35, of Williamsburg, KY.  He was last seen in the area of the Eagle Falls trailhead around 4:00 PM yesterday evening, January 14, 2023.  Mr. Dale is traveling on foot and is described as a white male, 5’8”, roughly 150 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes.  He was last seen wearing a camouflage jacket, blue jeans carrying a black backpack.

Anyone with information about a possible location of Walter Dewayne Dale is asked to immediately contact the Kentucky State Police, Post 11, at 606 – 878-6622.

The ongoing investigation is being conducted by Kentucky State Park Ranger Gerald Bisschop.
