The City of Prestonsburg allowed three men to bring their motorized camera system to check the storm drainage system (at Louisa East). After some help from several community members, we were able to access the drainage system through a junction box that was located close to the school building.
The camera system was able to provide 360-degree views from inside the drainage pipe.
The pipes under the building were inspected and no damage was found.
On the other hand, the camera system ran into the damaged pipes under the driveway on the river side of the school building. It would appear that well over 100 feet of corrugated pipe burned/melted.
We hope to begin work to replace the pipe as early as tomorrow (Tuesday), depending on the availability of a contractor that is equipped to handle the work.
This is physics, so I don’t expect SMH, Countrygal LOL or KAG to have a clue as to what I’m saying. First: Why did someone put a fire in the open end of a drain culvert? Heat, smoke fire etc, will seek the place with least restriction, the highest point, or the first manhole cover, which it appeared to do. Galvanized steel does not melt, PVC of any size will, so the drain must have been a mixture. Back to the start, WHY? It was either the world’s dumbest homeless person, or someone intent on causing damage. I lean toward someone intent on causing the damage, possibly a person wanting more days off? It isn’t an act of terrorism, that’s obvious. I’m sorry if my observation confuses the ignorant (I named them), nonetheless there are many more. I call them….LIBERALS!
Sorry Charles…. I have a Masters in Science so I am betting I have more college hours in physics than you probably do…. but with that being said, I am having trouble finding your logic in blaming a fire in a drain line on liberals but hey…. whatever floats your boat!
you will have to excuse charley he is off his meds
So you have a MS. OK I won’t doubt that, care to tell me the subject of your thesis?
Charles has his MS in BS!
I actually have a MA, By your writing skill, its clear you do not.
Thank God the melted culvert was located and will soon be fixed. There’s no way the county could have school with a melted culvert under the playground at Louisa East. Really, every drain within 2 miles of each county school building should be snaked with a camera. You know lit cigarettes have been thrown out in the vicinities of the schools. You can’t be too safe when it comes to drains and ditches. This would cause school to be out until after Christmas break, but that shouldn’t be a problem. LC usually misses at least 35 days per year and never makes them up. Safety first!
Oh come on Citizen. If they don’t get this fixed, the water may back up and cause mud puddles on the playground. You surely don’t expect LC to send kids to school without recess being held outdoors for a few days. Just imagine if one of these kids got mud on their shoe…..! What if they had to play in the gymnasium instead of the playground?! Dreadful to think about.
That’s funny! 🙂
When I try to be funny I get bashed by…wait for it….LIBERALS!
No school.., woo hoo!!!!!!
I sincerely hope they charge the responsible party.
Chances are the culprit is a juvenile, so there will be little punishment. I can’t see an adult doing this? One never knows.
That fire was caused by the homeless people that live under the bridge in Louisa. My question is…why hasn’t those people been charged??? Taxpayers have to once again pay for the damage they caused!!!
