LAWRENCE COUNTY, KY. — Several areas of Lawrence County and the surrounding area were hit by a dangerous wind storm Friday amidst scrambling efforts to batten down the hatches.
LC Emergency Management director Travis Hughes was out all night and reports downed power lines and roads blocked by trees in nearly all Lawrence County except the city of Louisa which reported no serious damage.
Statewide, the storm took five lives and was responsible for heavy damage in the southeastern and western parts of the state.
Tornado watch for Lawrence County has been issued until 7pm
