Lazer answers question of the week…
During the past two weeks the Louisa City council has taken on a new member to replace David McKenzie who resigned last month. And even though new appointed councilman Matt Brown is a popular member of the community and has lived in Louisa for seven years, we got a lot of feedback asking about him.
Who is Matt Brown? Maybe this will help…
Matt, 38, and Summer Brown, 31, have lived in the city of Louisa since getting married in November of 2011.
Matt graduated from the University of Kentucky in 2003 with a Bachelor’s in Health Science and a Master’s Degree in Physical Therapy. His parents – Randy and Debbie Brown, originally from Elk Creek in Martin County have lived in Louisa for more than 15 years. Debbie recently retired fron her job as a deputy clerk in Circuit Clerk Jodie Parsley’s office. Summer is the daughter of Debbie and the late Jack Hill.
Matt is employed as the Chief of Staff to the CEO at Addiction Recovery Care, a place where he would probably work for free he is so dedicated. He is also Chairman of the Board for RISEabove, a local non-profit. His wife, Summer, received a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Morehead State University in 2009 and teaches 5th grade at Louisa East Elementary School.
Matt and Summer also lead The TABLE, a new church that is having it’s Grand Opening on Sunday, June 11th. The TABLE meets in downtown Louisa at the Painted Cow Art Gallery at 10:45am for Connection Time (Snacks /Drinks/ Friendship). Service (Music & Message) begins at 11:15am.
Matt’s reason for accepting city council position:
“…I accepted the city council position after much prayer and thought. I am excited to contribute to the growth and development in our awesome city. I’ve worked closely with (Mayor) Harold Slone and some of the other members of the city council in the past, and I am certain that we have a team full of great people who want to see Louisa grow.”
“…I fully believe that Louisa’s best days are ahead of us and not behind us. I know from personal experience, that transformation begins at the individual level, then becomes contagious… spreading into one’s family, then into their place of employment and into the community and beyond. Summer and I are looking forward to the opportunities that lie ahead.”
