PATEL CHARGED WITH SEXUAL ABUSE, HUMAN TRAFFICKING BY LAWRENCE COUNTY GRAND JURY

Lawrence County Grand Jury met on January 12 the first time for the new year.  Several indictments issued and among those Govindlal Patel for sexual abuse in the third degree and criminal attempt of human trafficking.

Jesse Young  was charged with unlawfully taking $3,068.78 worth of Delta 8 THC vape pins from Zip Zone Express while employed there. 

The indictments are listed below:

Commonwealth vs. Cody Maynard 

The Grand Jury charges that on or before October 12, 2022 in Lawrence County, Ky the above named defendant:

1. Cody Maynard committed the offense of wanton endangerment in the first degree by knowingly and unlawfully engaging in conduct which created a substantial danger of death or serious physical injury to another person, namely Larry Messer of Louisa, Ky.

Commonwealth vs. Cory Ferrell 

The Grand Jury charges that on or before December 15, 2022 in Lawrence County, Ky the above named defendant:

1. Cory Ferrell committed the offense of theft of identity by knowingly and unlawfully using former or current identifying information of another, namely Shawn Harless, with the intent to represent himself as Shawn Harless for the purpose of deceiving or defrauding.

Commonwealth vs. Samantha Johnson

The Grand Jury charges that on or before December 15, 2022 in Lawrence County, Ky the above named defendant:

1. Samantha Johnson acting alone or in complicity with Hansel Wiley committed the offense of possession of a controlled substance in the first degree by knowingly and unlawfully being in possession of a controlled substance, namely Methamphetamine.

2. Samantha Johnson acting alone or in complicity with Hansel Wiley committed the offense of possession of drug paraphernalia by knowingly and unlawfully being in possession of altered straws, syringes and individual plastic baggies.

Commonwealth vs. Hansel Wiley

The Grand Jury charges that on or before December 15, 2022 in Lawrence County, Ky the above named defendant:

1. Hansel Wiley acting alone or in complicity with Samantha Johnson  committed the offense of possession of a controlled substance in the first degree by knowingly and unlawfully being in possession of a controlled substance, namely Methamphetamine.

2. Hansel Wiley  acting alone or in complicity with Samantha Johnson committed the offense of possession of drug paraphernalia by knowingly and unlawfully being in possession of altered straws, syringes and individual plastic baggies.

Commonwealth vs. Will Brown 

The Grand Jury charges that on or before November 8, 2021 in Lawrence County, Ky the above named defendant:

1. Will Brown committed the offense of theft by deception over $1,000.00 under $10,000.00 by knowingly and unlawfully engaging in a course of conduct that deprived and defrauded Brown’s Food Service of Louisa, Ky of $1,048.00 by issuing fuel receipts that did not reflect monetary refunds that he received with the intent to defraud Brown’s Food Service of $1,048.00.

Commonwealth vs. Lester Finley

The Grand Jury charges that on or before November 10, 2022 in Lawrence County, Ky the above named defendant:

1. Lester Finley committed the offense of trafficking in a controlled substance in the first degree by knowingly and unlawfully being in possession of approximately 10.95 grams of Methamphetamine, syringes and a set of digital scales, Narcan, notebook ledgers, grinders, and multiple pipes with the intent to traffic in that Methamphetamine.

2. Lester Finley committed the offense of trafficking Marijuana (less than 8 ounces) by knowingly and unlawfully being in possession of approximately 7.87 grams of Marijunana, multiple pipes, grinders, digital scales, notebook ledgers and rolling papers with the intent to traffic in that Marijuana.

3. Lester Finley committed the offense of theft of a motor vehicle registration plate by knowingly and unlawfully taking a United States Government registration plate or renewal decal and treating it as his own with no authority or permission by the owner to do so.

4. Lester Finley committed the offense of resisting arrest by knowingly, intentionally and unlawfully attempting to prevent police officers from Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department from effecting an arrest by using or threatening to use physical force against said police officers.

Commonwealth vs. Kristina Caudill

The Grand Jury charges that on or before October 7, 2022 in Lawrence County, Ky the above named defendant:

1. Kristina Caudill committed the offense of burglary in the second degree by knowingly and unlawfully entering the dwelling house located on Old Creek Rd in Lawrence County, Ky owned by Jennifer Zahner of Louisa, Ky with the intent therein to commit the crime of theft.

Commonwealth vs. Brandie Hale

The Grand Jury charges that on or before October 14, 2022 in Lawrence County, Ky the above named defendant:

1. Brandi Hale committed the offense of possession of a controlled substance in the first degree by knowingly and unlawfully being in possession of a controlled substance, Methamphetamine.

2. Brandi Hale committed the offense of possession of drug paraphernalia by knowingly and unlawfully being in possession of altered glass pipes.

The Grand Jury charges that on or before November 26, 2022 in Lawrence County, Ky the above named defendant:

1. Jesse Young committed the offense of theft by unlawful taking over $1,000.00 by knowingly and unlawfully taking $3,068.78 worth of Delta 8 THC vape pins from Zip Zone Express while employed there.

The Grand Jury charges that on or before January 1, 2023  in Lawrence County, Ky the above named defendant:

1. William Cassady committed the offense of receiving stolen property under $10,000.00 by knowingly and unlawfully being in possession of a 2019 Honda motor scooter stolen from Gracie Zahner of Louisa on or before December 31, 2022 with a value of $1,450.00/

The Grand Jury charges that on or before December 1, 2022 in Lawrence County, Ky the above named defendant:

1. Nicklas Perry committed the offense of possession of a controlled substance in the first degree by knowingly and unlawfully being in possession of a controlled substance, Methamphetamine.

The Grand Jury charges that on or before June 6, 2022 in Lawrence County, Ky the above named defendant:

1. Nicklas Perry committed the offense of burglary in the second degree by knowingly and unlawfully entering the dwelling house located on Sackie Lane in Lawrence County, Ky owned by William Spaulding of Louisa, Ky with the intent therein to commit the crime of theft.

Commonwealth vs. Paul Chaffin

The Grand Jury charges that on or before November 13, 2022 in Lawrence County, Ky the above named defendant:

1. Paul Chaffin committed the offense of arson in the second degree by intentionally starting a fire, causing the destruction of a 2013 Dodge Avenger automobile owned by Morgan Triplett of Louisa, Ky.

The Grand Jury charges that on or before December 12, 2022 in Lawrence County, Ky the above named defendant:

1. Frenchie Watts committed the offense of possession of a controlled substance in the first degree by knowingly and unlawfully being in possession of a controlled substance, Methamphetamine.

Commonwealth vs. Ronald Bias

The Grand Jury charges that on or before December 18, 2022 in Lawrence County, Ky the above named defendant:

1. Ronald Bias acting alone or in complicity with Tina Ferguson Blackburn and Christopher Blackburn committed the offense of theft by unlawful taking under $1,000.00 by knowingly and unlawfully taking four Ford catalytic converters, two General motors catalytic converters and an aftermarket catalytic converter that were owned by Mr. Johnnie King of Louisa, Ky.

Commonwealth vs. Christopher Blackburn

The Grand Jury charges that on or before December 18, 2022 in Lawrence County, Ky the above named defendant:

1. Christopher Blackburn  acting alone or in complicity with Tina Ferguson Blackburn and Ronnie Bias  committed the offense of theft by unlawful taking under $1,000.00 by knowingly and unlawfully taking four Ford catalytic converters, two General motors catalytic converters and an aftermarket catalytic converter that were owned by Mr. Johnnie King of Louisa, Ky.

Commonwealth vs. Tina Ferguson Blackburn

The Grand Jury charges that on or before December 18, 2022 in Lawrence County, Ky the above named defendant:

1. Tina Ferguson Blackburn acting alone or in complicity with Ronnie Bias and Christopher Blackburn committed the offense of theft by unlawful taking under $1,000.00 by knowingly and unlawfully taking four Ford catalytic converters, two General motors catalytic converters and an aftermarket catalytic converter that were owned by Mr. Johnnie King of Louisa, Ky.

Commonwealth vs. Govindlal Patel

The Grand Jury charges that on or before June 21,  2022 in Lawrence County, Ky the above named defendant:

1. Govindlal Patel committed the offense of sexual abuse in the third degree when he knowingly and unlawfully subjected another persons, namely Emily Salyers, to sexual conduct without the person’s consent.

2. On November 7, 2022 Govindlal Patel committed the offense of criminal attempt/human trafficking by knowingly and unlawfully acting with the kind of culpability otherwise required for commission of the crime, namely attempting to subject Terri Reber to engage in forced services or commercial sexual activity through the use of fraud or coercion.

Commonwealth vs. James Harless

The Grand Jury charges that on or before July 22,  2022 in Lawrence County, Ky the above named defendant:

1. James Harless committed the offense of theft by unlawful taking over $10,000.00 under $1,000.00 by knowingly and unlawfully taking a 2021 Suzuki KingQuad All Terrain Vehicle Ky with a value exceeding $10,000.00.

2. That the defendant having been charged in the instant indictment with the above stated felony count(s) in now being charged as a persistent felony offender in the first degree.

Commonwealth vs. Randell Thompson 

The Grand Jury charges that on or before November  18, 2022 in Lawrence County, Ky the above named defendant:

1. Randell Thompson committed the offense of receiving stolen property under $10,000.00 by knowingly and unlawfully being in possession of numerous tools stolen from David Fitch of Louisa, Ky with an approximate value of $4,000.00.

2. Randell Thompson committed the offense of possession of a controlled substance in the first degree by knowingly and unlawfully being in possession of a controlled substance, namely Methamphetamine.
