August 7, 2018
Candidates have until 4:00 pm August 14 to register to run for six open seats on the Louisa City Council, Mayor and two seats on the Board of Education.
That’s one week from today (Tuesday)!
Districts 1 and 3, currently held by Maddlene Roberts and Garnett Skaggs, are up for election this year according to Clerk Chris Jobe.
Along with the BOE races will be the proposed “nickel tax” which would be used for a new school to replace Louisa East and West Elementaries.
The question, already approved by Judge John D. Preston, has a simple yes or no voting slot.
Mayor Harold Slone has one opponent for the now $50,000 per year job in little known James Allen Pauley-Barker. City Council incumbents voted themselves a $50 per meeting raise beginning when the new term kicks off in January.
