Lawrence, Martin Co. students’ work included
MOREHEAD, Ky.—The main gallery of Morehead State University’s Claypool-Young Art Building will be the site of the “Kentucky Burley-Coal Region High School Exhibition and Competition,” March 7 through 14. The annual show is organized in partnership with the Kentucky Art Education Association, and features high school artwork from the region.
The exhibition will be open for special Saturday hours on March 10 from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m.
In association with the exhibition the Department of Art and Design hosts its annual High School Art Day scheduled on Wednesday, March 14. Schools from Kentucky, Ohio and West Virginia have participated in this exciting event through demonstrations and hands-on art activities including an annual newspaper sculpture competition.
High schools participating include: Bath County, Betsy Layne, Boyd County, Fleming County, Floyd County, Greenup County, Hazard, Johnson Central, Lawrence County, Mason County, Montgomery County, Paintsville, Paul Blazer, Perry County, Pikeville, Mason County, Montgomery County, Raceland-Worthington, Russell Independent and Sheldon Clark.
The gallery in the Claypool-Young features contemporary art for the MSU community as well as the university’s service region. The gallery is open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. or by appointment. There is no charge for viewing and the public is invited. Parking is available on Main Street, during the day, and on the MSU campus after 5 p.m. weekdays, and all day on weekends.
