MOUNTAIN HERITAGE DAY IN FORT GAY, WV AUG. 31ST
FORT GAY, WV- Mountain Heritage Day Festival has been an annual event for over 45 years. The town of Fort Gay proudly host the festival and people near and far come to see the events, Quilt and Car show contests, live music, vendor booths, games for the kids, crafts and more.
Starting the night before Aug. 30th, come out and mingle at The Fort Gay Alumni Association Dinner, we always have alumni that live away and travel to enjoy the festivities.
The American Legion/ VFW will be doing 21 gun salute at 10:00am. Then Grand Marshall of the parade will be Distinguished Alumni and Wayne County Sheriff, Rick Thompson. The parade will start at 10:30am and we will have cash prizes for 1st, 2nd & 3rd place floats.
Providing entertainment will be The Linville’s, Heather Wilson and Kings Seven will all be singing at this year’s festival on the Fort Gay Lawn.
The Famous Quilt Show will be held in the Fort Gay Library on Aug. 31st for show and purchase. Best of Show is 1,2 & 3rd place ribbons, all quilts old and new must be dropped off at Library Aug. 30thbetween 4:00pm – 5pm.
The Car Show will start at 9:00am-2:00pm registration begins at 8:00am at the Community Trust Bank. Car show will be on the lawn. $20.00 entry fee. Prizes every 30 minutes and the People’s Choice Award will also be given out.
There are many different vendors to come and see from food vendors, craft booths, jewelry booths and more. If interested in registering to have a booth they are still available for $20.00 and $25.00 contact Joetta Hatfield or Janet Wellman.
The Mountain Heritage Committee is taking up orders for Mountain Heritage Day T-shirt’s. The design is shown below. The shirts will be $12 each and If you would like to order one please let either Cheryl Kelly or the Mountain Heritage Committee on Facebook know. They will need payment before the shirts are ordered.
