Louisa, Ky. — The Louisa Middle Bulldogs hosted Russell on Monday night and came away with a couple close losses in OVC action. The Dawgs have been on the road for the last three games and played their second home game of the season.

The Red Devils got off to hot start leading 17-2 after the first period and held on to beat the Dawgs. LMS cut the lead down to just two points in the 4th quarter but couldn’t get over the hump. Baden Gillispie lead the way for LMS with 9 points, Joe Schmidt tallied 8 points, Danny Hall and Bryce Blevins 6 points each, Kyle Davis 4 points and Andrew Tackett chipped in with 2 points. The Dawgs went 0-6 from the line and hit 1 three pointer.

Russell pulled away in the second half to pick up the road win. LMS played well but just ran out of gas down the stretch. Trenton Adkins had 16 points including 4 three pointers to lead the Dawgs, Brody Diamond tallied 10 points, Bryce Blevins scored 9 points, Zach Holt and Parker Preece both hit three pointers. The Dawgs hit 7 three pointers and went 3-4 from the foul line.

The Dawgs made a furious comeback against the Red Devils but fell three points shy in the loss. Lawson Baisden had 15 points to lead the Bulldogs, Jake Derifield had 7 points and Ethan Burgess chipped in with 5 points. LMS hit 4 three pointers and went 3-5 from the line.
