Rep. John Blanton Appointed to Kentucky 911 Services Board by Speaker Hoover
FRANKFORT, Ky. (DATE) – Speaker-Elect Jeff Hoover has announced that 92nd District State Representative John Blanton, R-Salyersville, has been appointed to the Kentucky 911 Services Board.
“It is a privilege for me to serve the 92nd District, and all of Kentucky, in this critical role,” said Rep. Blanton. “911 services are vital to Kentuckians of all stripes, and I look forward to working with other board members to improve services in the most efficient manner possible.”
Other new board appointments include four persons representing local governments, each of whom are appointed by the Governor. Blanton is one of two non-voting members from the legislature, the other of which will come from the Senate.
The Kentucky 911 Services Board has jurisdiction over all wireless 911 services. The former name of this board was the Commercial Mobile Radio Service, but was renamed upon adoption of House Bill 585 in the 2016 session of the General Assembly. This legislation made multiple statutory changes to 911 laws in Kentucky.
Blanton is a freshman representative, representing Knott, Magoffin, and part of Pike County. He is a retired Kentucky State Police Major from Salyersville.
