Louisa, KY — A ribbon cutting ceremony was held Tuesday afternoon at the new Goodwill location at Yatesville Crossing in Louisa, KY.
Formerly located in the old Foodland Plaza, Goodwill moved to the new building just a few weeks ago. Executive Director of Goodwill Industries of KYOWVA Area, Alisssa Roueche’ Stewart, said this new location is “ideal.” It is a corner store in the strip shopping area along with other retail stores including Factory Connection and Latest Cuts, and is very visible from U.S. Rt. 23 and Walmart. Stewart said they have a 12 ft sign coming soon, which will make their exposure even greater.
Goodwill opened in Louisa in 2011, and has been very successful. Stewart reminded everyone that retail clothing is just a small portion of Goodwill Industries.
Other services they offer include family counseling, recycling, Hire Attire for men, backpack and youth programs, career/employment services, programs for the disadvantaged and disabled, and consumer credit counseling.
“We are the only nationally certified consumer credit counseling service in the Tri-State” said Stewart. Nearly 1.8 million dollars of consumer debt is managed by Goodwill Industries.
There are 14 stores in the KYOWVA district, with nearly 250 employees. There was a good turnout for Tuesday’s open house. Local and regional representatives were present for the ribbon cutting as as well, including Southeast Kentucky Chamber of Commerce President, Jacob Colley, Louisa Mayor Harold Slone, Economic Development Coordinator, Catrina Vargo, and KY Career Center Agent, Bridget James.
Goodwill of Louisa is open Monday through Saturday, 9:00 am – 9:00 pm, Sunday, 12:00-6:00 pm. For more information on any of the services mentioned above, call 304-525-7034.
