On August 25, 2020. The Louisa Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution had their regular monthly meeting. The meeting was called to order by Regent, Lynn Courtney.
The DAR ritual was performed.
Hostesses were Joyce Austin and Lynn Courtney. The cafe’ was decorated in pink and white to welcome back members to the first meeting in five months. Multiple snacks and sweets were served.
Members attending were Myrtle Ann Walker, Reba Whitt, Patty Ferrell, Lynette Chaffin, Sheila Kensinger, Wanda Cassady, Carolyn Thompson, Nadine Meek, Nancy Bush, Rosie Post and Karen Maynard.
Members arrived with donations for Safe Harbor and glasses for the Lions Club. Safe Harbor donations will be delivered to the Ashland office in September. We will continue collecting glasses and cases for the Lion’s club until October 27th meeting, Mrs. Courtney said.
Women’s issues were discussed with handouts from KDMC, Know Your Heart Numbers and common symptoms for Heart Attracts and Strokes.
The DAR Piece Makers are selling tickets on a handmade Patriotic quilt. The winner will be announced September 22 ND at the DAR monthly meeting. The chapter also have handmade aprons, pillows, rag dolls, bonnets, pin cushions and numerous craft item for sale. Contact Lynn Courtney ( 606) 638-9413) for tickets on the quilt and prices for the craft items.
Volumes 1 and 2 Veterans of Lawrence County, KY. books are for sale at 40.00 each. A few 2020 Calendars are available for sale at 5.00. The Calendars has photos of past and present locations around Louisa.
The next meeting will be September 22nd at 6 PM in the First Baptist Church Cafe’. The Louisa Chapter welcomes women interested in becoming a member.
Member, Karen Maynard provided door prizes, the winners were, Wanda Cassady, Joyce Austin, Carolyn Thompson and Nadine Meek.
The meeting was dismissed at 7:30 PM.
Where is the masks and what about social distancing? This is why our children are getting sick. Sad.

Thank God they are NOT WEARING masks!!!! Or doing “social distancing!!!” So refreshing to see!!!! Way to go girls!!!!!
After being seated at a local restaurant with friends masks are not required. So goes for refreshments . All proper sanitation requirements were followed.
