UPDATE: 9:00AM WEDNESDAY, MAY 23 — Jordan Harper,15, of Blaine is now out of ICU as of yesterday and expected to make a full recovery after his dirt bike accident that happened on MAY 21.
The new rider has 2 broken ribs, a broken vertebrae and a punctured lung. While there is no doubt he will remember the accident and have difficulties with pain throughout his life, it could have been much worse, this community knows all too well after losing a high school age boy within less than a mile of Harper’s accident just less than 2 years ago.
UPDATE: 11:00am Tuesday — As of 9:00 A.M this morning, Jordan Harper remains in the ICU at The Pikeville Medical Center with several serious injuries. The accident happened yesterday evening in the Martha/Blaine area of Lawrence County.
Many agencies responded including BVFD, LCEM, HealthNet and Mason Keifer and Mark Wheeler of the Lawrence Co. Sheriff’s Department. The accident remains under investigation by Deputy Mason Kiefer. We will continue to update the condition of the Lawrence County High School student as details are known.

MARTHA, Ky. — A dirt bike accident Monday evening leaves 15 year old LCHS student Jordan Harper fighting for his life with a severe back injury.
The accident happened around 7:30 P.M between Martha, Ky. and Blaine.
Healthnet flew Harper to Pikeville Medical Center due to the weather at the time.
Blaine Volunteer Fire Dept., Netcare Ambulance, Sheriff’s Deputies Mark Wheeler and Mason Keifer, and Lawrence County Emergency Management director Mike Woods were all on the scene to assist.
