FIRST EVER PREMIER LEAGUE GAME IN EASTERN
KENTUCKY!
PIG ROAST, INFLATABLES AND MORE!
FREE ADMISSION!
Here in the bluegrass state when it comes to winning we usually think about one sport and one team, that being basketball and University of Kentucky. It’s hard to argue those two things, but if you ask Kyle Sniatecki, he may talk about a different team and a different sport. Kyle is the head coach of Eastern Kentucky’s premier girl’s soccer team FC Kentucky 2002.
FC Kentucky is a team made up of fourteen-year-old girls who span over 5 different counties that compete on a regional level. Last year they were State Cup semi-finalists, which made them a top 4 team in the state of Kentucky for youth soccer. “This team is paving the way for youth soccer here in Eastern Kentucky and is creating a new breed of soccer for boys and girls that will benefit the game and this area for years to come,” says Sniatecki. Coming off a tournament championship at the Indy Burn Cup held in Indianapolis, IN, the FC team is ranked number 2 in the state (according to gotsoccer.com) and with a 5-2-1 record sitting in second place in Kentucky’s top statewide league called Kentucky Premier League (KPL).
Due to the landscape of the league the team usually has to travel 2-3 hours for each game. Fortunately for them and their fan base they will be hosting the first ever home game this Saturday April 23rd! FC Kentucky will take on the prestigious soccer club Javanon SC (based out of Louisville, KY) in the first ever Kentucky Premier League game held in this half of the state. Kick-off is set for 1 PM and the game will be held at Lawrence County High School soccer stadium, which is located at 100 Bulldog Lane in Louisa, KY.
This will be the first time a KPL match is being held east of Lexington and because this event is such a big deal, FC Kentucky is asking the Tri-State Region for their support this Saturday! A local soccer training business, Soccer By Sniatecki LLC, will be sponsoring the event, which will include a variety of free activities.
One of these activities will be a free soccer clinic for boys and girls ages 6-14 which will begin after the game. In addition, a tailgate will begin at noon and will include free food (pig roast), free drinks, free inflatables for kids and autographs from players and coaches. The team and coaches want everyone to be loud and proud so they are asking everyone to wear “UK Blue” for the game. Making signs to cheer on the girls is encouraged, but the team will also be giving out free vuvuzelas, cowbells and thunder sticks to create a loud atmosphere.
Throw on some blue, bring the family and come support a team that is making strides for youth soccer here in Eastern Kentucky, as well as the Tri-State area. If you need or want more information on the event, you can contact head coach, Kyle Sniatecki by phone (716-207-0272) or e-mail (kyle.sniatecki@gmail.com).
