Registration is open for next class series
On September 26, the CDC Diabetes Prevention Program group at Lawrence County Health Department completed their last class of the year-long lifestyle change program. All participants present shared how much the class has helped them be more aware of their eating and physical activity.
Incorporating the 9 who completed the program, over 100 pounds have been lost. The class, who was at high risk for developing Type 2 Diabetes, continues to work toward a healthier lifestyle and, with this, they are preventing or delaying additional health problems including Type 2 Diabetes. Many of the class have met their 5% weight loss goal and the others are still working toward this goal and beyond. Lifestyle changes work! Studies through CDC have declared the Diabetes Prevention Program research and evidence-based to reduce the risk of developing Type 2 Diabetes by 58% for those who complete the program. If you happen to see any of those participants pictured, please take the time to tell them congratulations! Their commitment will benefit them for a lifetime!
