JULY 3, 2018 – written by WADE QUEEN
In the last 8 days of June, there were 19 arrests in Lawrence County.
From 12:01 A.M. June 23 thru to 11:59 P.M., June 30, there were at least 82 individuals who were arrested and were brought to be lodged at the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center in Paintsville, Kentucky. Out of those 82 or so, 19 of those arrested were from Lawrence County. Another Lawrence County resident was arrested elsewhere in Martin County.
For the month of June 2018, there were 355 individuals who were arrested and brought to be booked at the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center in Paintsville, Kentucky
The number of individuals who are currently lodged at the BSRDC July 3, is 310. That is the lowest it has been since the beginning of the year. While that is exceedingly high and still very overcrowded for the jail’s designated holding number of 225, it is better than it was a few weeks ago when the jail numbers hit an all time high of 357. It is apparent there has been somewhat of a slowdown in arrest numbers in some areas of the Big Sandy regional counties (maybe because of the heat).
The names and criminal charges of the latest 19 Lawrence County arrests (and the 1 out of county arrest) are the following:
