Paintsville, Ky. — For the first time in school history the boys soccer program at Lawrence Co. claimed the 15th Region championship with a 2-0 victory over Prestonsburg at Jim Matney Field.
15th Region Champs
The Dawgs improved to 15-2-2 and avenged an earlier loss to the high powered Blackcats who were averaging almost 8 goals per game and fell to 20-3 on the year.
With the score tied at halftime Freshman Andrew Vinson scored off an assist from Freshman Sam Lefever in the 67th minute and Sophomore Blake Maynard followed up with another goal just 2 minutes later to give us a 2-0 lead and our defense did the rest.

COACH’S COMMENTS
“… Trenton Adkins was huge in the goal for us. He was phenomenal and made save after save for us. The boys just followed the game plan and continued to force Prestonsburg into bad shots and Trenton saved the rest. Luke Johnson played a different role for us along with Logan Southers and they were really tough tonight defensively. It was a great win for our program against a team we have battled for 4 years in the regional championships. It was an all out effort from everyone on the field.”
