On Thursday August 12, 2022 The Lawrence County Cooperative Extension Office CELEBRATED NATIONAL FARMERS MARKET WEEK at the local Farmers Market in Louisa.

My trip to the market…
“…What a great environment for friends and family to hang out and visit! Vendors set up today between 5-7PM. We purchased an $8 bag filled with fresh tomatoes, a cucumber, green peppers and fresh hydroponic lettuce head from CTS FARMS in Blaine, Ky. represented by Tonya Slone from Pike County, Ky. and Thomas Parsons from Louisa, Ky.
This was perfect for a fresh salad for two. Nana B’s had delicious baked goods. We ate CHOCOLATE & PEANUT BUTTER CUPCAKES from Nana B’s located at 153 Walnut Drive, Adams, Ky 41201 by Doug & Billie Jo Hall from Adams Ky.

We also stopped by “Moon Macrame” owned by Shelbie Hughes from Louisa, Ky. “Moon Macrame” is an eye-catcher, you have to see!
Then stopped by P. Kay Designs by Paige Holley to see her Scrunchies. Got a Paisley Scrunchie for $2 and visited with my Favorite School Teacher in 7th grade Toni Preece and co-worker from PSB (Peoples Security Bank) Toni Jenks and my Dad’s Sister Faye Delong and my cousin A.D. that has my winning ticket.
…Saw so many people gathering at vendors, artisan’s, and stopping to relax and spend time talking.
Farmers Market continues through today, August 12, 2022.”
Comments from Laura Maggard:
Agriculture and Natural Resource Extension Agent for Lawrence County, University of Kentucky

“…We were brainstorming on how we could host an event to celebrate National Farmers Market and find a way to get new vendors involved at the farmers market when this event came about. It was a great way to celebrate and recruit all at the same time.
All vendors were local and everything was homegrown or homemade. Local artisans brought beautiful creations, delicious foods, and farmers supplied fresh local produce. It was a great success and we already have folks wanting to do this again in the fall. We are thankful for all the vendors and the community support. We look forward to planning future events.”
“We are always looking for new farmers to sell at the market, anyone interested in selling should contact Laura Maggard or Stacy Jordan at the Extension Office 606-673-9495.”
