Dawgs’ bats come alive in 8-3 win over Pirates; Will face #1 team in Ky. this week at home
Louisa, Ky In a winner take all game at Randy Keeton field on Friday night it was the Bulldogs getting an 8-3 victory over Belfry to secure the #1 seed in the upcoming 60th District tournament. Lawrence Co. ( 16-7 ) snapped a three game losing streak and came out of a mini slump on offense.
Freshman catcher Austin Roe went 2-3 with 3 RBI’s including a single that plated two runs and gave the Dawgs a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the 4th that they would not relinquish.
Senior Brock Turner threw a complete game giving up eight hits and striking out four to pick up the victory.
Turner helped his own cause with two walks and a sacrifice fly. Peyton Cyrus, Zach Keesee and Brad Parks all had two hits. Keesee and Chase Coverdale each scored two runs. Jarrett Fairchild was on base all three times and picked up 2 RBI’s. Austin Bailey chipped in with one hit and scored a run.
Belfry ( 15-8 ) will be the #2 seed in the district tourney, Pike Co. Central will be the #3 seed and Phelps will be the #4 seed.

“… We have been struggling offensively the last few games and it was nice to put eight runs on the board. Big hit from Austin Roe, he has been swinging well and he came up huge. Brock Turner pitched well. Always good to get the #1 seed in the district.”

Thursday at Home vs #1 team in Kentucky and the #14 team I the Nation undefeated ( 27-0 ) Greenup Co. at 6:00
Friday at Home vs Pikeville at 6:00 they will honor the first ever regional championship team from 1986 before the game.
Saturday at Home at 11:00 am vs Magoffin Co.
