Lawrence County was awarded a grant written by deputy judge/executive Vince Doty and Jill Jackson for the purchase, Installation, and Maintenance of an Integrated Next generation of ready COMPUTER AIDED DISPATCH and mapping for the Lawrence Co. 911 center.
For the 2009 grant cycle there were 56 applications vying for $4.3 million dollars in requests for 911 centers across the Commonwealth.
Lawrence County received $89,284.84 to replace the CAD (Computer aided dispatch). This includes new hardware and network services such as computers and a new server, public safety software products. They will also have updated maps. This grant will also give the local 911 team two new employees.

Vince Doty and Judge Exe, Phillip Carter stated that they wanted to give a special thanks to Senator Phillip Wheeler and Rep. Kathy Hinkle and also with a special thanks to Tonya Westmoreland.
This will be great for Lawrence Co if it is done right. Says going to give them two new employees…well that will be a big chunk of the $90,000 if they pay decent wages. They need to bring the pay up some for the new hires and others they already have there…at least according to what salaries that were posted. Unfortunately figure ones in charge will run it in the ground with their better than you attitude!! Amazing how one looks all sour in the picture, must not have gotten their way on something.
