Fort Gay, W. Va. — It was a special day recently for two former Tolsia Lady Rebel basketball players as Alyssa Cloud and Latasha Nichols will continue their academic and athletic careers at the next level when both girls signed on the dotted line to play college basketball in front of family and friends.
2017 graduate Alyssa Cloud signed a Letter-of –Intent to join the Salem International Women’s Basketball program. The Salem International Lady Tigers are led by 2nd year Head Coach Michael Bari and are an NCAA Division II Independent located in Salem, WV.
Alyssa Cloud is a 5’7” Guard that averaged 7 ppg 3 steals and 5 reb a game as a senior at Tolsia High and helped lead the Lady Rebels to the Region IV Final this year and the Class AA State Tournament in 2016 . Alyssa is versatile and will be an effective threat on both ends of the court. She has 3-pt range to go along with her defensive presence.
*Alyssa intends to major in Biology at Salem International University.
Cloud says , “ I want to thank my parents,teammates, and coaches for helping me make my dream of playing at the next level come true. My signing today means that a new chapter in my academics and athletics begins. I am very excited to join the Salem International Family and try to contribute to its success any way that I can.”
Tolsia Lady Rebel Head Coach Ric Morrone said, “ We are very proud of Alyssa and excited to see her take her talents to the next level. She is a very good student, as well as athlete and she will be successful in all her future endeavors. It is always rewarding to see former Lady Rebels go to the next level.”
Tolsia High 2017 graduate Latasha Nichols signed a Letter-of –Intent to join the Pikeville University Women’s Basketball program. The UPike Lady Bears are led by 2ndyr Head Coach Clifton Williams and compete in the Mid-South Athletic Conference in NAIA.
Latasha Nichols is a 5”10” Guard/Forward that averaged 10 ppg 10 reb and 2.5 steals a game as a senior at Tolsia High and helped lead the Lady Rebels to the Region IV Final this year and the Class AA State Tournament in 2016 . Latasha has been recognized as All-Cardinal Conference as a sophomore and junior as well as Class AA and Class A All-State in both years.
*Latasha intends to major in Healthcare at Pikeville University.
