Lawrence County gals snap losing streak
Louisa, Ky. — Lawrence Co. ( 6-9 ) snapped a five game losing streak with a much needed win over Rose Hill on Monday night at home by the score of 64-19. The Lady Dawgs had a tough Tennessee trip after Christmas playing some very good competition.
On Monday night Lawrence Co. raced out to a comfortable lead and cruised past the Lady Royals. Hannah Rucker and Lexie Ratliff both had 18 points to pace the Lady Dawgs, Rucker hit 4 threes. Kassidy Cavins tallied 8 points, Semarra Akers chipped in with 6 points, Kelly Davis and Kylie Maynard 4 each and Sheree Hay and Shelby Skeens 2 each. Akers and Maynard had 7 and 6 rebounds respectively. The Lady Dawgs went 8-16 from the line and hit 4 three pointers.
On Saturday afternoon in a rescheduled game is was Pike Co. Central getting a 72-48 road 60th District win over the Lady Dawgs. It was the first district game for Lawrence Co. as they battled foul trouble all game. Hannah Rucker had 10 points to lead LC, Lexie Ratliff and Sheree Hay both tallied 8 points, Semarra Akers hit 2 three pointers for 6 points, Kylie Maynard and Kelly Davis also had 6 poibts, Chelsey Fields and Kassidy Cavins had 2 points each. The Lady Dawgs went 8-17 from the line and hit 4 three pointers.
Lawrence Co. will host Greenup Co. on Friday night at 7:30 and Phelps on Saturday afternoon at 4:00. The boys will also host Phelps right after the girls game on Saturday.

“We were way out manned against Happy Valley, Tn, but we still competed with Cullman, Alabama who is much better then us.” We got into foul trouble vs Pike Central and couldn’t recover, just struggling right now but a good win vs Rose Hill.”
