Frankfort, KY – As a federal judge ordered former Kentucky Democrat Chairman Jerry Lundergan to report to prison for corruption, the Republican Party of Kentucky issued the following statement:
“Lundergan’s prison sentence delivers justice for the people of Kentucky. Whether funneling illegal campaign cash to Alison Lundergan Grimes, falsifying records to cover it up, flip-flopping on promises to stop using consultants tied to these scandals, or Gov. Beshear’s former top deputy serving hard time for bribery and kickbacks, the Democrats show Kentucky over and over they can’t be trusted.” – Republican Party of Kentucky spokesman Mike Lonergan
Today, a federal judge ordered former Kentucky Democrat Chair Jerry Lundergan to report to prison for corruption charges. This long investigation and trial started with a complaint filed by Kentucky Republicans.
Last year, despite promises from House Democrat leaders to cut ties with a consultant tied to Lundergan, news reports showed that several of the party’s lawmakers continued to pay tens of thousands of dollars for his campaign services. These scandals come in addition to Gov. Andy Beshear’s former top deputy Tim Longmeyer’s conviction and sentence for bribery related to a kickback scheme.
Background
Today, a federal judge ordered former Kentucky Democrat Chairman Jerry Lundergan to report to prison for corruption
“Former Kentucky Democratic Party Chairman Jerry Lundergan has been ordered to report to prison next month on federal campaign finance charges.” (WLEX NBC 18, Judge orders former Ky. Democratic Party leader to report to prison in federal campaign finance case, 10/6/2021)
Last summer, Lundergan was sentenced to almost two years in federal prison
“Jerry Lundergan, father of former Kentucky Secretary of State Alison Lundergan Grimes, was sentenced in federal court Thursday. Lundergan received a 21-month prison sentence, along with a $150,000 fine.” (WKYT CBS 27, Jerry Lundergan, father of Alison Lundergan Grimes, sentenced in federal court, 7/16/2020)
Democrat Consultant Dale Emmons was also sentenced to fines and probations as part of the case
“…Dale Emmons was sentenced to 3 years probation (including 9 months in a halfway house) and a $50,000 fine.” (Herald-Leader, Well-known KY Democratic political leader gets 21 months in prison in campaign case, 7/16/2020)
Lundergan and Emmons were convicted for funneling illegal contributions to the campaign of Lundergan’s daughter & former Democrat Secretary of State Alison Grimes’ campaign
“Lundergan, 73, and Emmons were convicted last year of conspiring to funnel more than $200,000 in illegal contributions from a Lundergan company into the 2014 U.S. Senate race of his daughter, then-Secretary of State Alison Lundergan Grimes.” (Herald-Leader, Feds: Convicted former KY Democratic Party chair should serve more than five years in prison, 7/10/2020)
The Republican Party of Kentucky first brought the scandal to light by filing a complaint with the Federal Election Commission in 2014
“The Republican Party of Kentucky has filed a complaint against the campaign of Alison Lundergan Grimes, contending she and a company her father owns violated the law when the company bought a tour bus and rented to Grimes’ campaign for what the GOP says is below market rates.” (Courier-Journal, Kentucky GOP files FEC complaint against Grimes, 9/23/2014)
Grimes’ campaign manager testified that Lundergan left a bag of $20,000 in cash in his couch – and cut him a $25,000 check
“…explosive testimony from Grimes’ campaign manager Jonathan Hurst involving a bag with $20,000 in cash and a $25,000 check that he testified Lundergan left on his couch after asking for more campaign mailers to be sent. The jury was shown a photo of the pile of cash, with bills bundled in $2,000 currency bands.” (Courier-Journal, What to know about the Jerry Lundergan and Dale Emmons convictions, 9/13/2019)
Despite promises from House Democrat leaders to cut ties with a consultant tied to Lundergan, several of the party’s lawmakers continued to pay for his services
“Months after Kentucky House Democratic leadership announced they would sever ties with a campaign consultant at the strong urging of Gov. Andy Beshear, four Louisville legislators in the caucus continued pay him for services this year, according to state campaign finance records.” (Courier-Journal, House Democratic legislators continue using campaign consultant tied to Lundergan scandal, 8/25/2020)
These scandals follow Gov. Andy Beshear’s former top deputy Tim Longmeyer serving federal prison time for bribery related to Beshear’s campaign for Attorney General
“Tim Longmeyer was sentenced to 70 months on Thursday by U.S. District Judge Karen Caldwell.
Longmeyer pleaded guilty in April to a federal bribery charge for using his influence as head of Kentucky’s Personnel Cabinet to steer contracts to a public relations firm. Longmeyer admitted receiving more than $200,000 in kickbacks.
Longmeyer served as personnel secretary during former Democratic Gov. Steve Beshear’s administration. Beshear’s son, Attorney General Andy Beshear, hired Longmeyer as his top deputy. Longmeyer resigned days before the case against him became public.” (WDRB FOX 41 TV, Tim Longmeyer sentenced to 70 months on federal bribery charges, 9/29/16)

Dirty democrats. You can’t trust them at all.
I’ll say it once more, since Mark appears to be a liberal himself ( after that letter from the neck), and getting on here to belittle me on behalf of KAG, it’s rather clear.
When a dimocrap goes to prison an angle get’s it’s wings.
If you don’t want to post it I DON’T CARE!
Charley want some cheese with that wine
If he had been a Republican, they would storm the Capital, try to kill the prosecutor and swear it was all lies proof or not. America is being destroyed by hypocrite Republicans and the fools who worship them!
You sir are an idiot.
Carl you must be a stupid Democrat, right? Why don’t you show some proof of your lies. Only person killed in the capital was an unarmed girl by capitol police, who later killed his self. Can’t say that for those peaceful BLM/Antifa terrorist acts can you? I would rather worship the Republicans than that no minded old fool who stole the presidents office.
