(Ashland, KY) – The Kentucky State Post 14 Ashland has arrested a Boyd County resident as a result of the on-going investigation into the robbery of Clarks Pump n Shop.
During the course of the investigation information and evidence obtained led to the following:
James M. Newland, age 39, of Ashland, KY has been arrested, lodged in the Boyd County Detention Center and charged with the following:

Subject: Robbery – Clarks Pump n Shop US 60 Rush
(Ashland, KY) — On Saturday, March 12, 2016 The Kentucky State Police Post 14 Ashland received a call of a robbery at the Clarks Pump n Shop located at 9522 East US 60 Rush, KY.
At approximately 0841 pm an unidentified male, approximately 5 feet 5 inches tall with a heavy build, entered the business and demanded cash from the clerk. The male was wearing a dark color baseball cap, denim jeans and a long sleeve camouflage shirt at the time of the robbery. During the course of the robbery an unknown handgun was shown to the clerk, but no injuries were sustained by any involved parties.
The male obtained an undisclosed amount of cash before exiting the business through the front door. The male then fled the area on foot toward US 60.
The following agencies responded and assisted during the course of the investigation: Olive Hill Police Department.
The case remains under investigation by Trooper Jeff Moore.
