A Johnson woman ended up facing additional felony charges after police said she attempted to bring suspected methamphetamine into the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center while she was being booked into the jail on a DUI charge only.
According to Johnson County court documents, at 10:32 A.M., on August 31, Kentucky State Police Trooper Mark Spencer observed a woman, later identified as Lindsay Jennifer Osborne, 40, of Ky. 3224, River, walk from inside the Marathon gas station at Hagerhill.
Lindsay Osborne, trooper Spencer wrote in the arrest citation, was swaying and having a hard time maintaining balance while pumping gas into her vehicle.
Trooper Spencer wrote that he watched Lindsay Osborne get into the driver’s side of a Chevrolet HHR, which she then proceeded to back into the parking lot. Spencer initiated a traffic stop, the citation said, and noted that Ms. Osborne had droopy eyelids, slowed reflexes and was delayed in answering questions.
Trooper Spencer wrote that he asked Lindsay Osborne if she had taken anything and she answered that she had taken “a suboxone and a valium this morning.”
Lindsay Osborne was placed under arrest and transported to Paul B. Hall Regional Medical Center, where she submitted to a blood test. Court documents show Lindsay Osborne was then transported to the BSRDC, where the extra felony charges resulted against Lindsay Osborne.
According to an arrest citation by Johnson County Sheriff Department deputy Jason Arms, Lindsay Osborne was strip searched at the jail, where corrections officers found a pink pouch concealed in her bra area that contained a small quantity of a white crystal-like substance believed to be methamphetamine, a half of an orange pill suspected to be suboxone and a straw suspected to be used for the snorting of narcotics.
Trooper Spencer told the deputy he had advised Lindsay Osborne multiple times that, if she had any illegal items on her person, she needed to give it up prior to entering the jail. Apparently, Ms. Osborne did not heed the warning, which resulted in the additional felony charges against her.
