LAWRENCE COUNTY ARREST LIST – MAY 16-23, 2017
HIGH NUMBER OF ARRESTS CONTINUES IN LAWRENCE COUNTY AND NEIGHBORING COUNTIES, BUT MOST ARE BEING BAILED OUT OF JAIL AS SOON AS THEY ARE BOOKED, AS THE INMATE POPULATION NUMBER AT THE BIG SANDY REGIONAL DETENTION CENTER LOWEST IN OVER THREE MONTHS
MAY 25, 2017 – written by WADE QUEEN
ARREST NUMBERS ARE ONCE AGAIN WELL ABOVE NORMAL IN LAWRENCE COUNTY AND THE REST OF THE BIG SANDY IN THE PAST WEEK, (OR WHAT USED TO BE “NORMAL RATE ” AROUND A YEAR AGO). BUT THE MAJORITY OF THE ARREST SUSPECTS ARE BEING BONDED OUT FAIRLY QUICKLY, WHICH WOULD EXPLAIN THE FACT THAT THE NUMBER OF INMATES CURRENTLY AT THE BIG SANDY REGIONAL DETENTION CENTER IN PAINTSVILLE ARE AT THEIR LOWEST SINCE THE MIDDLE OF FEBRUARY, AT 239 INMATES AT 10 P.M. WEDNESDAY EVENING MAY 24. ( BUT STILL AT ABOVE THE DESIGNATED MAXIMUM CAPACITY OF THE JAIL OF 225).
TIME WILL TELL IF THERE WILL BE ANOTHER MAJOR SPIKE DUE TO THE UPCOMING 3 DAY HOLIDAY WEEKEND, LIKE WHAT HAPPENED DURING THE WARM 3 DAY FEDERAL HOLIDAY WEEKEND IN FEBRUARY, THAT CAUSED THE JAIL TO BE SEVERELY OVER CAPACITY MOST OF THE PAST 3 MONTHS. WEATHER FORECASTS ARE FOR RAINY & COOL THIS WEEKEND, WHICH COULD TAMPER DOWN ARRESTS, BUT SOMETIMES THAT ACTUALLY CAUSES THE NUMBERS TO BE HIGHER THAN NORMAL.
OUT OF THE AT LEAST 106 INMATES BOOKED AT THE BIG SANDY REGIONAL DETENTION CENTER IN PAINTSVILLE IN THE EIGHT DAYS FROM 12:01 A.M. MAY 16 THRU 11:59 P.M. MAY 23, 19 OF THEM WERE FROM LAWRENCE COUNTY. THAT IS COMPARED TO THE PREVIOUS EIGHT DAY PERIOD, WHEN AT LEAST 95 INMATES WERE BOOKED AT THE BIG SANDY REGIONAL DETENTION CENTER FROM 12:01 A.M. MAY 8 THRU 11:59 P.M. MAY 15, 20 OF THEM WERE FROM LAWRENCE COUNTY. AND ALSO THE FIRST SEVEN DAYS OF MAY, OUT OF THE 75 INMATES BOOKED AT THE BIG SANDY REGIONAL DETENTION CENTER IN PAINTSVILLE FROM 12:01 A.M. MAY 1 THRU 11:59 P.M. MAY 7, 8 OF THEM WERE FROM LAWRENCE COUNTY, FOR A TOTAL OF NINE ARRESTS.
