THREE RIVERS MEDICAL CENTER, Dr. Thomas Frazier and Lynn Hill, APRN, Louisa, Kentucky are pleased to announce that it is one of only few facilities in the state to offer patients non-invasive, painless liver assessments with FibroScan. The device allows health care providers to assess for degrees of liver stiffness, or scarring, known as fibrosis. FibroScan also provides information regarding the presence and amount of adipose tissue in the liver. The test serves as an alternative to liver biopsy in many different types of liver disease.
Thomas Frazier, MD discloses: “We are excited about this technology for our ever-growing patient population. We continue to offer services that are not readily available outside of tertiary centers/metropolitan areas. In combination with our new Hepatitis C screening program and our continued relationship with the University of Louisville/Kentucky One Health, we now are the premier center for the diagnosis and treatment of liver disease in Eastern Kentucky”.
Lynn Hill, APRN adds: “FibroScan is the first noninvasive imaging study indicated for management of patients with liver disease such as fatty liver, cirrhosis, and all types of hepatitis. We are privileged to be able to provide this service at Three Rivers Medical Center, to our community and the Tri-state area”.
FibroScan works by emitting a pulse of energy, which you may feel as a slight vibration on your skin. FibroScan then measures the speed of this energy and immediately provides this information to your physician, who then uses it as part of a broader evaluation of your liver health
CEO, Greg Kiser declares: “We are pleased to offer this important advance in liver management to our patients. The consistent results enable us to make the most informed treatment decisions, while providing the quick, painless experience patients want and deserve.”
