Lawrence school cancelled March 21, for school employees advocacy day
Statement from Lawrence Co. Supt. Dr. Robbie Fletcher:
“…The Eastern Kentucky Education Association has scheduled a “Call to Action” for public school employees in our region. The event is scheduled for Wednesday, March 21st at 11 AM at the Capitol. This event allows for public school employees to advocate for funding for school budgets and for employees’ pensions. Also, public employees will have the opportunity to show their appreciation for the lawmakers that have advocated for public education in multiple ways.
Staff members were polled and area educational leaders were consulted. Due to the number of staff members that wished to attend and to show support for funding public education, Lawrence County Schools will be closed on Wednesday, March 21st.
This day will be added to the end of the calendar, and moves the last day of school for students to May 18, 2018. This change does not impact the date of graduation, and it does not impact spring break.”
All In,
Robbie L. Fletcher, EdD
Superintendent, Lawrence County Schools
