FALLSBURG, KY. — Residents say they woke up this Christmas Eve morning to a loud explosion and a very bad smell, which kinda smelled like burning diesel. There is a black crude oil substance in the creek, which can be seen around the school. It is up Austin Branch and oil is all over the fish and ducks. The EPA from Frankfort Kentucky is investigating it right now.
Local DES director Chris Cox has not responded to questions about the situation as of yet.
Local residents of Blaine, Helen and daughter Shalon Holt managed to catch a couple of the oil drenched ducks, one was a Peking, and bathed them.
This is what they do, try to save animals. They will try to catch the rest tomorrow to bathe.
Contact me direct & details on oil spill be glad to correct details …I’ve been in contact w Philip Carter epa head from frankfort(not our judge executive)
Hopefully, with community’ help, we can save the rest! Thank you for bringing attention to this!
Thank you for helping those little ducks Helen. So many would just walk on by.
I would like to help in any way I can. Hopefully volunteer my time in some capacity. Please email me at jdotson15@hotmail.com
There was no explosion! It was simply a leak from on oil well located in the Fawn Trailer Court near Fallsburg!
What people are reporting as explosions, was actually the illegal shooting of several of these ducks. These ducks did not have oil on them until they hit the water.
