Big Sandy Community & Technical College Plays Major Role in and Drone Education
Prestonsburg, Ky – Big Sandy Community & Technical College recently signed an agreement with Paintsville High School and Hazard Community & Technical College to established d dual credit Associate in Applied Science degree in Unmanned Systems Technologies.
Students of Paintsville High School can now earn drone certifications by taking dual credits in general education through BSCTC and courses in unmanned systems technology through HCTC.
The memorandum of agreement between the three educational institutions was signed Wednesday August 21, 2019. “This unique collaboration allows students of Paintsville High School access to a technology-based profession that is embraced by many of the world’s top industries” stated Dr. Sherry Zylka, President/CEO of BSCTC.
BSCTC is very pleased to provide the foundational college education that prepares students to enter the drone certifications. Unmanned systems technology has applications in a variety of industries with capabilities that provide new methods to address such areas as commercial drone pilot, first responders, search and rescue, inspection services, geographic information systems and many other identified applications.
