CLIFFORD, Ky. — A man is dead after a crash Monday morning involving a tree-trimmer truck and a car.
Lawrence County Deputy Sheriff Mark Wheeler investigated an accident that happened in the 8000 block of South Highway 3, near Clifford in the Maynard Branch area of Lawrence County.
James Marcum, 82, of Louisa, did not stop for a flagger and slammed into a tree-trimming truck parked on one lane of the highway, police said.
The flagger jumped out of the way to avoid being hit by the car, Wheeler said. He said Marcum hit his brakes just before rear-ending the truck.
Lawrence Co. Coroner Mike Wilson said Marcum was pronounced dead at the scene at 11:40 am this morning after the crash.
Relative Alisha Marcum Johnson was feeling broken last night.
