Apprenticeships offered, Economic Development Coordinator says ‘It’s an amazing opportunity’
If you have ever considered a career as an electrician, you do not want to miss this program being offered by Amteck–a commercial electrical company based in Lexington, KY. The company is offering FREE pre-apprenticeship training for those who qualify. Funding for this program is provided by the East Kentucky Concentrated Employment Program (EKCEP), and is targeting 18-24 year olds OR people who have been laid off. No pre-requisites or prior training are required.
Amteck will hold a free informational session on Tuesday, May 16, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at Sullivan University Center for Learning-Louisa, located at 122 S Main Cross St., downtown.
Lawrence County Economic Development Coordinator, Catrina Vargo, explained “During the last few years, there has been an increase in the shortage of trade skill jobs — such as welders, plumbers, HVAC laborers, and electricians. Funding is being offered to companies in these industries in order to offer apprenticeships, so that people can be trained quickly and efficiently, at a relatively low cost.”
After attending the informational session on May 16, those who want to take the next step, will attend an orientation at a later date, with travel expense assistance provided.
We are so excited to bring Amteck here for this info session” said Catrina Vargo, Lawrence County Economic Development Coordinator. “This is an amazing opportunity for anyone looking to become a commercial electrician.” Amteck also has locations in Louisville, KY, Dyersburg, TN, and Greenville SC.
