Bernard is a long-time friend. I was saddened to hear of his passing. We have traded stories, compliments, and recipes and the daily updates I will miss. My aunt Shirley Chapman thought so much of him. He reminded me of how much she had helped him in high school. I know he loved food, children, God, and the good old USA. I depended on him to comment on my column and to encourage me to keep the memories flowing. I shall miss him, but will see him in the by and by. I’m sorry for the family’s loss as well as the communities. May God bless you in this time.
