Louisa Police Department and Louisa Fire Department made Christmas possible for many families through their “Toys for Tots” Donation Foundation this year.
They held their 10th Annual Toy Drive at the Local Fire Station #2 behind LCHS. Starting at 9am on Friday December 21, 2018, It was a wonderful site to see as the Volunteers and Community worked together carrying out various toys, games and bikes for children whom, without this program, may not be getting much under the Christmas tree.
One woman told us “That without this foundation she would not be able to provide gifts for her kids and that she is beyond thankful for the hard work everyone in the community has done.”
The Louisa Police Department and Louisa Fire Department had lots of extra help this year. Besides the many helpful volunteers for today’s giveaway, the community pulled together to help raise funds or toys.
Just to name a few of the local businesses that donated or took up collections were Dollar General Stores, Speedway and several other surprises came out of the kindness of the Community such as Aubrey Doty, an LMS 6th grader who raised enough money by herself to purchase and donate two bikes.
After reading about her story several other businesses like the staff at The Jordan Center decided to also pay it forward and donate. There were fundraisers like the Ugly Christmas Sweater 5K race that all funds were donated to the “Toys for Tots”. The Boy Scout Troop 152 also donated toys for the event and there are many others that made this possible and the Louisa Police Department and Louisa Fire Department would like to thank everyone who donated their time to helping make this possible for Lawrence County. Merry Christmas!
