The power structure that denied Floor debate was removed last November
LEXINGTON, KY—The Family Foundation said today that the passage of two pro-life bills in the 2017 General Assembly “is another sign that Frankfort has been liberated.” The comments came after the passage of House Bill 2, the ultrasound bill, and Senate Bill 5, a ban on abortions after 20 weeks.
“After decades of iron-fisted control of committees that would not hear bills like this, we finally have leadership in Frankfort that is willing to act on behalf of women and their unborn children,” said Martin Cothran, spokesman for the group. “Kentuckians should be proud of the people they have sent to the state’s Capitol to do their business.”
The Family Foundation is one the groups that has repeatedly pushed for pro-life legislation, only to be rebuffed by a Democratic House leadership that would sometimes promise to hear these kinds of bills, but consistently failed.
