LOUISA, KY — For the second month in a row, the regularly scheduled monthly Louisa city council meeting was postponed due to a lack of a ‘quorum’; in other words not enough of the council members showing up to legally hold a meeting.
Tuesday night’s meeting was postponed due to three city council members who reported on Tuesday that they could not attend the meeting, which is now tentatively scheduled for next week as a special meeting of the city council.
No reason was given on what the individual excuses were for why each of the three could not attend yesterday evening.
Two city council members did show up, council members Tom Parsons and Joey McClanahan only to find out that there was not going to be a meeting due to a lack of council members. Everyone who was present at city hall were having friendly chit chats until 7:00 P.M., when Mayor Harold Slone could legally and officially call off the meeting.
Last month’s July city council meeting got rescheduled a few days before the planned meeting due to several council members being on vacation. The July Louisa city council meeting was held a week later on July 20, and was conducted as a ‘special meeting’.
In a special meeting only items listed on the agenda can be voted on. The ‘hot’ issue of annexation was not listed on the regular meeting agenda after drawing citizen Mikey McKinney’s questions about ‘voting on the issue’ of annexing portions of property along 2565 into the city limits.
This month’s Louisa city council meeting is now scheduled for Tuesday, August 17, at 7:00 P.M.
Unless it once again it’s postponed.
Sounds like they need to clean house with city council if they can’t find an hour in the evening once a month in their busy schedules. What a shame. I’m glad the article names who actually showed up.
“They can’t clean house” Tabitha. Only you can. If you can vote in Louisa city elections that is. Many complain, but few show up on election day. Therein is the problem.
Have you ever heard of taxation without representation? Looks like all of the ARC representatives on the council didn’t show up.
Just so you know, I saw one of them out for their evening walk when I suppose they should have been at the meeting. Hmmmm
I totally agree. Boot these slackers. This is the new culture. Stay home and let someone else do the work. This is what drags a city down. Lazy slackers need to GO !
